The annual Mackay Airport Beach Horse Races are an iconic event on North Queensland’s sporting and social calendar. The showpiece of this is the Race Day attended by thousands of locals and visitors to the region, the event also features a legendary Opening Night Cocktail Party and post race day Garden Party.​ The weather in August is sublime with temperatures warm, skies blue and breezes refreshing along the sands. The races are situated on one of Queensland's top 10 beaches, Mackay Harbour Beach.  Well known locally, it is famous for bringing thousands together, once a year to watch the poise and beauty of one of natures most graceful animals go head to head along the sand, whilst spectators watch and soak up the glorious tropical atmosphere, live music and regional fare.
