The Mackay Bluewater Fling is a twilight, tropical Scottish musical outdoor community event held at the Bluewater Quay on the banks of the Pioneer River on Saturday 9 September 2017 starting with a massed pipe bands march at 4.30pm. Celtic Fyre rock band will perform on the River stage and pipe bands, medieval re-enactors, highland dancers, food stalls and kids activities go towards making this event a fun family friendly evening in the relaxing Mackay city heart. Admission is by gold coin donation. If you have ever wanted to try blowing a set of bagpipes or have a go at dancing the Highland Fling this is your chance, come and join in the anniversary celebrations of the Mackay and District Pipe Band and experience the natural beauty and warm hospitality of the tropics.
