Getting Around... Mackay Explorer Bus (free service) The ‘Mackay Explorer’ - a regular bus service linking several of Mackay’s key attractions - operates every Sunday and travels on an hourly timetable from the Visitor Information Centre at the City Gates to the Mackay Marina, stopping at all key destinations in between. Scheduled stops for the ‘Mackay Explorer’ include the Visitor Information Centre, Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens, bus stops along Nebo Road, Artspace Mackay, the City Centre Sunday Markets, Mackay Marina, and the fish markets in River Street. People can also board the ‘Mackay Explorer’ between scheduled stops by finding a place along the route where the bus can stop safely and signalling to the driver as the bus approaches. The Mackay Explorer departs the Visitor Information Centre from 9.30am each Sunday. The last journey back departs from the Marina at 4.30pm. A timetable for the service is contained in the PDF below.
