An Eligible Entrant is anyone who: (a) resides permanently in the Mackay-Isaac Region (b) is not an employee of the Promoter or agencies associated with the promotion and (c) is not a professional photographer who earned AUD$2,000 or more as an Australian Resident as part of their profession - direct photography sales and/or prize money from other photography competitions, during the 12 month period immediately preceding the start of the registration period.
Categories: The four(4) categories are Islands and Beaches, Rainforest, City Heart and Hinterland.
Location: All photographs entered in the 2010 Mackay Ama’tOurism’ Photography Competition must feature images taken in what the Owners classify as the Mackay-Isaac Region, the geographical boundary of which stretches up to Laguna Quays, out to Clermont and down to St Lawrence.
Entries: Entries must be original digital images. Up to three(3) may be entered into each category. No picture may be entered into more than one(1) category. You can enter in as many of the four(4) categories as you wish. Black and white images are not permitted. Only one(1) image from a series is allowed. Pictures must have been taken within one(1) year immediately prior to the closing date. No allowance will be made for poor quality images.
Brief: If you had one chance to sell Mackay-Isaac Region to the world, using just a single photograph, what would it look like?
We are looking for photos that truly reflect our beautiful region. Use a location in any of the four(4) categories within the Mackay-Isaac Region, and at least one(1) person in the image, any age and gender, to capture the essence of the Mackay-Isaac region. TIP - we’re not just looking for photos of the usual tourist attractions, we’re looking for those photos that get to the heart of our destination and its people. Be creative - use the people in your image to show us why this location is somewhere we truly have to see for ourselves.
All photos must comply with this brief including clearly showcasing the feature of the category selected (ie a beach if entered in the Islands/Beaches category) and have at least one(1) person in the image, any age and gender.
Photo releases: Each Eligible Entrant warrants to the Owner that he or she will obtain the consent of any recognisable person that is featured in a photograph to submit the photograph and for it to be used as outlined in these terms and conditions. The Eligible Entrant agrees to indemnify the Owner against all costs and claims by third parties arising from a breach of this warrant. Releases must be available and furnished upon request for all individuals prominently featured in an entered image. This rule is not generally applicable to street photography. Do not include any releases with your entry.
Image quality: Allowances will not be made for poorly colour corrected images. Please ensure your images are not over saturated and faithfully represent the subject matter. Compositing and multiple exposures are not allowed. Sharpening is allowed (but use sparingly - many images are ruined by over-sharpening). Cropping is allowed, but please be mindful of the effect of cropping on file size. Digital adjustments are only acceptable if limited to minor cleaning work (removing dust spots), levels, curves, colour, saturation, contrast and sharpening work.
Fees: Entry in the 2010 Mackay Ama’tOurism’ Photography Competition is FREE. Additional costs of CD, printing your photographs, postage and anything else is at the entrant’s expense.
Copyright: You must be the sole author and owner of the copyright for all images entered. By entering this competition you warrant that the work does not infringe the rights of any third party, including but not limited to, copyright, trade marks, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights. The Eligible Entrant agrees to indemnify the Owner against all costs and claims by third parties arising from a breach of this warrant. The copyright of all images submitted will remain the property of the photographer. As a condition of entering into this competition, each Eligible Entrant licences the Owner to use their entry in any media for an unlimited time to promote the region. As a further condition of entering, each Eligible Entrant who becomes a Finalist and also each Eligible Entrant who becomes a Winner also licences the Owner to use their entry in any media for an unlimited amount of time for the purpose of promoting future competitions or competitions of a similar nature or the products or services of the Owner.

Failure of the Owner to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The Owner reserves the right to request any Eligible Entrant to sign a statutory declaration confirming compliance with these Terms and Conditions. Proof considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Owner. In the event that an Eligible Entrant cannot provide suitable proof, they will not be eligible for the prize.
