Cape Hillsborough Sunrise with the Wallabies Tours

Mackay Tourism is thrilled to announce the launch of the Cape Hillsborough Sunrise with the Wallabies Tours. Starting Monday, 21 May daily guided tours of the famous wallabies and kangaroos’ sunrise experience will take place at the stunning Cape Hillsborough Beach.

Led by experienced tour guides, the tours will provide visitors to Cape Hillsborough, with informative insights and a guaranteed, unforgettable experience with the Wallabies. Tour participants will be equipped with two-way radio transmitters linked to the tour guide, and will have optimal positioning for photography.

Protecting Cape Hillsborough’s unique ecosystem and wallabies has been of the upmost importance in the development of these tours. Mackay Tourism General Manager, Tas Webber explains “Mackay Tourism operates, not just to market and develop, but to ensure the environmental sustainability of our regions tourism industry.

“The tours have been designed specifically to manage the interaction between humans and the wallabies and therefore minimise any safety risks.”

Mr Webber continued “Mackay Tourism is committed to maximising the experience of every visitor to The Mackay Region and promoting and protecting the unspoilt natural assets we have to offer.”

Mackay Regional Council Mayor Greg Williamson has welcomed the investment the Sunrise Wallaby Tours will bring to the region.

“We are tremendously fortunate to be able to combine such an intimate wildlife encounter with a breathtaking location,” Cr Williamson said.

“Photos of the wallabies on the beach at sunrise have become synonymous with our region and council supports any initiatives that help us promote our tourism assets to the world.”

Today’s announcement will act as a catalyst for further investment by tourism operators, both complementing the tours at Cape Hillsborough and the establishment of other nature based tours throughout the region.

The Owners of Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park, Ben and Renae Atherton echoed this optimism. “We have at Cape Hillsborough, a world-renowned natural asset that presents attractive investment opportunities. The same can also be said for the regions other landmarks like Eungella National Park”.

Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park has recently opened a restaurant and café to delight tour groups with morning coffees and delicious breakfasts.

From today, locals and visitors to The Mackay Region can book these tours at www.sunrisewallabytours.com. Cape Hillsborough Sunrise with the Wallabies Tours are $22 for adults, $14 for children and $60 for families. Daily tours will commence 30 minutes before sunrise.
