Catch Mackay on Creek to Coast on Saturday

From rod bending action fishing the local creeks, to sweet surprises at the Sarina Sugar Shed to exploring the new Visitor Information Centre, The Mackay Region will be on display this Saturday at 5:00pm on the Channel Seven program, Creek to Coast.

The hugely popular fishing and outdoors show spent several days exploring the Mackay Region

Jason Kidd from Inshore Fishing Mackay took host Scott Hillier fishing and their results demonstrated the regions spectacular fishing.

“From the impoundments up the valley, to the river and beaches in town, to the islands and reefs offshore there’s world class fishing to suit any angler and that’s what I wanted to show Scotty”.

Mr. Kidd continued “Mackay has an incredible range of species that can be targeted by any angler no matter their skill level”.

“The days fishing was a big success, there’s not too many other parts of the world where you can head out just 15 minutes from a major population centre and catch Barramundi, Blue Salmon, Trevally, and Queenies all in a couple of hours”.

Inshore Fishing Mackay featured on last Saturdays Creek to Coast, but the episode is available on 7plus, with snippets also available on Creek to Coast’s Facebook Page.

Mr. Kidd said anyone can experience the fishing that was on display. “Inshore Fishing runs charters from Mackay that a personalised for the customer. You tell me what techniques and species you would like to target and I will do my best to make it happen for you”.

This weekend’s episode will feature the newly refurbished Sarina Field of Dreams Parklands.

Like thousands of visitors to The Mackay Region, first stop in the Mackay Region for Creek to Coast was the new state-of-the-art Mackay Region Visitor Information Centre.

Featuring the latest technology, ample RV and motorhome parking, and staffed by a passionate team of volunteers and booking agents, the Mackay Region Visitor Information Centre showcases to visitors, like the Creek to Coast team, the natural beauty and many landmarks worth exploring throughout the region.

General Manager of Mackay Tourism, Tas Webber, was delighted to host Mr. Hillier and the Creek to Coast crew during their visit to The Mackay Region.

“Our new Visitor Information Centre located in Sarina wows every visitor that walks through its doors, and I’m confident viewers will also be amazed at the new centre and its displays showcasing the region”.

Mr. Webber continued “The Mackay Region is a perfect destination for those visitors looking to escape the crowds, and reconnect with nature off the beaten track, so featuring on an outdoors program like Creek to Coast, is sure to boost visitation to the region.”

Mr Hillier and the Creek to Coast crew also indulged their sweet tooth with a visit to the Sarina Sugar Shed.

A favourite tourism destination, and a multi-award winner, the Sarina Sugar Shed will give Creek to Coast viewers a fascinating insight in the regions extensive history of sugarcane cultivation and sugar production, whilst also tempting them with the delicious variety of liquors, sauces and sweets.

Creek to Coast will be televised on Seven at 5:00pm on Saturday, with replays and highlights featured on 7plus and Facebook.
