Description

Camping and visitor centres closures
Applies until 30 June 2020.

As part of the Queensland Governments response to COVID-19 (coronavirus) and to help keep Queenslanders safe, a decision has been made to close ALL camping areas within Queensland national parks, state forests and recreation areas as of 26 March 2020 until further notice.

Four-wheel drive trails, mountain bike trails, walking tracks and trails, bushwalks and national park coastal walks, remain open. People who are visiting these areas and taking part in recreation activities in national parks and other areas, should continue to follow the Queensland Health advice about not travelling outside of their local area and for public gatherings and social distancing.

Eungella National Park is a mountain refuge for diverse plants and wildlife. Look out for platypus, eels and turtles from the platform at Broken River. Go spotlighting at night for greater gliders, tawny frogmouths, sugar gliders and brushtail possums. Go birdwatching during the day for rainbow lorikeets, red-browed finches and blue-faced honeyeaters. Stay overnight to make the most of your visit.

Fern Flat camping area is on the western side of the Broken River picnic area (about 600 metres away). It is a shady spot in tranquil rainforest with a toilet, tent sites, and water provided (treat all water before drinking).

The Broken River picnic area has information, picnic tables and barbecues. It is a five kilometre drive from Eungella township. Broken River bush camp is set amongst natural bushland adjacent to Broken River.

Camping permits are required and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your camp site. Book your camp site and purchase your camping permit in advance. Bookings can be made on-line, over the counter or by phone.
