Parking and entry to DBCT Illuminate is via Alexandra Street. There is strictly no entry to the event from Lagoon Street. After the huge response to the inaugural event in 2017, DBCT Illuminate is returning to the Festival to once again delight audiences and engage the community in this wonderful arts-project-turned-family-night-out! DBCT Illuminate will light up the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens for three nights during the 2018 Mackay Festival of Arts, looping around the gardens from the Meadowlands Amphitheatre event hub. This hub will include an eatery with local food vendors and acoustic entertainment for patrons to enjoy as part of their Illuminate journey. Kicking off with a series of hands-on artistic workshops in the lead up to Illuminate, participants will be led by experienced local artists from the region to create intricate and enchanting objects. Then enjoy DBCT Illuminate the event at the Botanic Gardens! Take a wander through the wonderful creations made locally at the workshops and displayed as part of DBCT Illuminate. Enhanced with an impressive showcase of beautiful lighting, you’ll be amazed at the giant firefly roving puppets, interactive cocoons, Calypso the photo booth and much more!
