Locals and Visitors to be Hooked on Mackay

In exciting news for local and visiting fishing enthusiasts, Mackay Tourism has launched a brand-new website and Facebook page, dedicated to fishing The Mackay Region.

Hooked on Mackay will be a one stop shop for inspiration and information on the premier fishing destination that is The Mackay Region.

Featuring the Hooked on Mackay Fishing Guide, weekly fishing reports, and weather and tide information, the website will become an important companion to the thousands of local and visiting anglers.

Inspiring visitors to discover The Mackay Region will also be an interactive map featuring fishing spots and target fish species profiles, broken down by month and locations. Once hooked, visitors will be able to book their next fishing adventure with a local fishing charter.

The Hooked on Mackay Facebook page will feature giveaways, local stories, expert tips and advice, highlights on the best spots and species, and tons more. Lucky anglers will also have a platform to brag about their catches with the hashtag #hookedonmackay.

This initiative has been jointly funded by  the Queensland Government, Mackay Regional Council and Mackay Tourism and forms one of the key deliverables of the Mackay Region Fishing Strategy which was endorsed by Council in June 2017.

Local fishing legend and AFC angler Daniel Grech said the Hooked on Mackay website and Facebook page will be as important to anglers as any piece of tackle.

“It’s a fantastic initiative by Mackay Tourism and Mackay Regional Council to develop the Hooked on Mackay branding”

Mr Grech continued “Mackay has such a strong and friendly fishing community, and is continually growing as a fishing tourism destination”.

“The website and Facebook page has so much useful information that its sure to inspire locals and visitors to get out and explore the region” said Mr. Grech.

www.hookedonmackay.com and @hookedomackay will become every anglers favourite spot as visitors and locals get #hookedonmackay.
