Mackay and The Whitsunday's Top Instagrammable Locations Revealed

With social media and capturing that perfect image becoming vital in choosing one’s next holiday, Mackay Tourism and Tourism Whitsundays have together shared the region’s top Instagrammable destinations.

A new itinerary #Instaworthy Destinations Across Mackay & The Whitsundays showcases eighteen prominent locations for photography across the two regions. Along with a helpful map, the new itinerary will assist Instagrammers and photographers to plan their stunning, shareable holiday.

#Instaworthy Destinations looks set to build upon Mackay Tourism and Tourism Whitsunday’s partnership and will be as similarly popular as the Rainforest to Reef: Best of Mackay & The Whitsundays itinerary that was released last year.

Tourism Whitsundays Chief Executive Officer Tash Wheeler believes developing a strong inter-region partnership will hugely benefit the industry.

“Mackay and The Whitsundays has some of the most beautiful scenery that Queensland has to offer! We believe this collaboration with Mackay Tourism is a great way to showcase some of the best of what we have,” she explained.

“It’s imperative through these uncertain times that we work together, Mackay and The Whitsundays have developed a strong partnership which allows both regions to pool resources and leverage what we have most effectively to benefit the region and industry”, she said.

Tas Webber, Chief Executive Officer of Mackay Tourism explained the importance of inspiring social media users to visit the two regions.

“Mackay and The Whitsundays are two diverse and spectacular regions, renowned around the world for their natural beauty,” he said.

“Within a relatively short drive, visitors can marvel at ancient volcanic peaks rising above outback plains, refresh in waterfalls surrounded by lush rainforest, experience wallabies and platypus in their natural habitat, relax at some of Australia’s best beaches and of course dive into the heritage listed Great Barrier Reef,” Mr Webber added.

#Instaworthy Destinations Across Mackay & The Whitsundays creates an easy to follow guide to capturing some truly incredible imagery that is sure to captivate social media followers,” he stated.

“Social media platforms, particularly Instagram, are an amazing tool to highlight the region’s natural vibrance. No single region quite showcases a sympathy of different landscapes as Mackay and The Whitsundays, and that’s clearly evident in this itinerary as the Whitsunday blues, Mackay greens, and Isaac oranges combine beautifully,” he explained.

Mr Webber continued, “between the two organisations, Mackay and The Whitsundays has over 850,000 social media followers. I’m confident #Instaworthy Destinations will inspire these followers, and many more to create their own picture-perfect posts.”

#Instaworthy Destinations Across Mackay & The Whitsundays will be shared to the @visitmackay and @whitsundaysqld social media pages, online at mackayregion.com and tourismwhitsundays.com.au and will be available from the Visitor Information Centres at Bowen, Proserpine, Mackay and Sarina.
