Mackay Operators Recognised as Best of Queensland Experiences

Mackay Tourism has welcomed Tourism and Events Queensland’s announcement of the official results of the 2019 Best of Queensland Experiences Program.

The Best of Queensland Experiences Program has been implemented to guide the Queensland tourism industry to deliver exceptional customer experiences, create positive word of mouth, help attract more visitors, grow expenditure and increase market share.

The program has been developed in partnership between Mackay Tourism, Tourism and Events Queensland, the Queensland Tourism Industry Council and the Department of Innovation, Tourism Industry Development and the Commonwealth Games. It identifies and recognises experiences that best bring the Queensland story to life and consistently deliver a high-quality visitor experience.

The program is based on an independent set of criteria that incorporates online customer reviews, responds to consumer expectations and reflects industry best practice.

The results are another win for Mackay’s booming tourism industry with 35 of the region’s operators receiving Best of Queensland accreditation.

Six Mackay Region tourism operators displayed such a high standard of visitor experiences to receive a perfect 100 per cent score. These decorated businesses are Cape Hillsborough Nature Tourist Park, Comfort Resort Blue Pacific, Shamrock Gardens, Mackay Resort Motel, Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre and the Sarina Sugar Shed.

Delighted with the results is Mackay Resort Motel Manager David Parry.

“We are extremely proud to be recognised as a Best of Queensland Experience, particularly that our exceptional customer service and reviews have earned a score of 100 out of 100,” he said.

Mr Parry continued, “at Mackay Resort Motel we strive to provide guests with relaxing and enjoyable accommodation, dining, and conference facilities, and we encourage guests to explore the many wonders The Mackay Region has to offer."

Mackay Tourism General Manager Tas Webber congratulated Mackay Resort Motel and the other 34 operators receiving Best of Queensland accreditation.

“Operators who are identified as Best of Queensland Experiences are to be prioritised in Tourism and Events Queensland’s marketing and activities including priority placement on Queensland.com,” he said.

Mr Webber said, “The Mackay Region may be blessed with spectacular natural assets, but it is the hard work and commitment to outstanding customer service from tourism operators that is the backbone of our region’s tourism industry.”

“The recent record numbers of visitation and spend is a testament to these operators and the region’s strong Best of Queensland Program performance further adds to Mackay’s appeal as a tourism destination,” he said.
