Refreshing Win for #mymackay

A refreshing dip has scored Hannah Wilson a relaxing road trip thanks to Mackay Tourism’s 2018 #mymackay competition.

Over 300 entries of people to sharing their favourite Mackay and Isaac region experiencewere received, with the top 10 voted on at DBCT Illuminate and via Mackay Tourism’s website.

Thanks to her underwater selfie, captured while enjoying the refreshing waters of Finch Hatton, Hannah is driving away with the major prize package – including 7daysin a fully kitted out Maui motorhome to explore our region with all the creature comforts of home.

“The water at the Wheel of Fire was freezing, so I wasn’t wanting to get under but it was so fresh and clean – it was amazing,” said Hannah.

“I’d actually based my whole day around getting a Pinnacle pie – skipped brekky for an early swim then off for a pie!

“I just love the variety of things to do here, from hiking to the beaches – you can do it all in Mackay.”

The runner up prize package was won by Marcus Odgaard for his stunning photograph taken above the Pioneer River near Mackay Base Hospital, pointing west towards Racecourse Mill.

“My favourite thing about the region is the diversity – not just the people but the environment,” said Marcus.

Marcus has won a weekend getaway for two at the perfectly positioned Blue Pacific Comfort Resort in Blacks Beach.

The final prize package was just for the fishing entries, which was netted by Nathan Brown for his brilliant bream photograph entry.

Originally from New South Wales, Nathan moved to Mackay for work placement years ago and it’s safe to say, he’ hooked on the region.

“I grew up in a great small town, but it doesn’t compare to Mackay’s climate, activities, fishing and career opportunities,” said Nathan.

With a fishing bucket list ready to go, Nathan was “stoked” he’d won a personally guided half day charter with Inshore Fishing Mackay, exploring the best fishing our region has to offer.

Mackay Tourism General Manager Tas Webber said he couldn’t believe the talent and passion from locals who got behind #mymackay to show off what our region has to offer visitors.

“Who better to show off Mackay’s best spots, hidden gems and exciting activities than the region’s locals?”

“We can’t wait to see where #mymackay will take us next.”
