Region Shines in Spectacular New Visitor Guide

Those looking for holiday inspiration need look no further with Mackay Tourism releasing its new 2020 Mackay Region Visitor Guide.

The 44-page guide showcases hundreds of Mackay Region experiences and destinations and should prove the perfect travel companion for visitors to the region, as well as attracting further visitation.

Reflecting the diversity and beauty of the region it represents, the new Visitor Guide takes readers on a visual journey throughout every corner of The Mackay Region. From the windswept plains of the Isaac Region, fertile rainforests of Eungella to the sea, sun and sand of The Great Barrier Reef – the 2020 Mackay Region Visitor Guide offers up experiences to entice even the pickiest of travellers.

Gracing this year’s front cover, is the world-famous Sunrise Wallaby Experience, captured magnificently by professional photographer Sean Scott.

Having travelled around the world and sharing his photographs to over 320,000 Instagram followers, Mr Scott was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of The Mackay Region.

“Mackay is quite remarkable as a travel photography destination. I can’t think of too many other places where within an hour, you can photograph the Great Barrier Reef, pristine beaches, all the way to lush tropical rainforests. Add into the mix, so many of Australia’s magic wildlife encounters and you’ve got spectacular imagery to capture everywhere you look,” said Mr Scott.

“I’m very pleased to see my picture of a wallaby hopping through the rays of sunshine at Cape Hillsborough on the front page of this great guide. This is such an iconic Australian image, and a wonderful moment that will now be shared to the world,” he said.

Mackay Tourism Chief Executive Officer Tas Webber spoke of the importance of the new Visitor Guide.

“With The Mackay Region rapidly growing as a desirable tourism destination, evidenced by 2019 surpassing a million visitors for the calendar year, we made the decision to increase the print run by 10,000 to 50,000 copies,” he explained.

Mr Webber continued, “the Visitor Guide is available from the Mackay Region and Mackay Visitor Information Centres, as well over a 100 accredited Visitor Information Centres located throughout Queensland.”

“It will also be the key publication to drive visitation at trade and travel shows, will be present at major events and conferences, and will feature online and across social media,” he said.

A key attraction in The 2020 Mackay Region Visitor Guide is WakeHouse Australia, whose owner Amanda Pelagalli is confident the new guide will further increase visitation to the aqua and cable park and The Mackay Region.

“With thousands of visitors each year looking for inspiration on things to see and do whilst in The Mackay Region, it was a clear decision to advertise in the Visitor Guide,” she said.

“Featuring so prominently in this year’s guide will enable WakeHouse Australia to capitalise on the enormous growth of tourism in The Mackay Region, and the Visitor Guide is something we’ll be displaying with great pride,” Ms Pelagalli stated.
