Volunteers add value to Mackay Tourism

Mackay Tourism is on the search for passionate volunteer ambassadors to help run the Mackay Visitor Information Centre on Nebo Road.

Mackay Tourism volunteer ambassadors collectively contribute almost 50 hours per week to ensure the Visitor Information Centre opens daily to service visitors travelling in the region.

Mackay Tourism has around 30 ambassadors throughout the year and long-serving volunteers say it’s the friendship, social aspects and willingness to promote The Mackay Region as a travel destination that has them wanting to contribute year after year.

Benefits of being a volunteer ambassador include sharing knowledge and experience about The Mackay Region, familiarisation trips to different businesses and locations around the region, and networking and social events.

Volunteer ambassadors generally work shifts based on a seven day roster from 9am to 1pm and 1pm to 5pm.
